Barbara was born on December 18, 1932, in Holyoke, MA to Edward and Ruth (Thompson) Bayon and graduated from Holyoke High School. Barbara and Tony began their married life on a military base in Little Rock, Arkansas before settling permanently in Bloomfield, CT for 49 years. During those years, Barbara raised 5 children and pursued her career in higher education at St. Joseph’s College in West Hartford, CT as the Director of Continuing Education. Barbara also enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren who affectionately called her “Gigi.” She took great pleasure in sharing her music box collection with them. Barbara loved gathering with family for Sunday dinners and holidays, especially Christmas. Her living room would be crowded with family celebrating, and playing a lively game of Yankee Swap. She always looked forward to her “Cousin’s parties”. She especially enjoyed summer vacations with family on Cape Cod, weekends away in Vermont and New Hampshire, and getaways with lifelong friends.
In addition, Barbara had a real love for flowers and gardening, and this passion transformed into a business she ran with a friend. She was the artist behind floral arrangements at many family gatherings and holidays. Her house was always filled with beautiful fresh flowers.
