Obituary for Beryl Lantz (Muncey)

Formerly of Medfield and Attleboro, MA and Limerick, ME. Beryl passed away in her 97th year on June 19, 2021. She was the beloved wife of the late John R. Lantz. Beryl was the loving mother of her four children and their spouses; Fannie M. Lantz (Richard); Ro Seaward (Bob); John R. Lantz (Connie); Deborah B. Davern (Leo.) She was the cherished grandmother of Kevin, Jennifer, Tina, Kai, Heather, Celeste, John, Rob, Maddie, Merry and 13 great grandchildren.

Beryl was born on August 28, 1924 in Cambridge, England and met the love of her life as a consequence of World War II. She was the classic war bride and John had the great good sense to know what a gem he had found. Beryl was an unfailingly kind and thoughtful person. She was quiet, but had great strength. When times got tough, she went up to Medfield State Hospital (behind her husband's back) and got a job as an attendant and ultimately obtained her LPN; working 20 years, mostly on the night shift.

She was very bright, an avid reader, with a wicked sense of humor. Beryl and John enjoyed many years of laughter and happiness in their retirement, whether at home in Maine, or going on all their trips and adventures. Even in her later years Beryl remained optimistic and positive. She was a wonderful listener and had a unique ability to help you see the bright side of whatever was going on in your life. She thoroughly enjoyed a family get together, ferrying grand/ great grandchildren to their activities, or just a long conversation over a cup of tea. She was also independent for as long as was possible, even buying a treadmill at age 90 because she couldn't get to mall to walk in the winter. Beryl inspired her family by example. We are lucky to have had her as long as we did, she is greatly loved and missed, thankfully she has taught us that we must "plod on."

There will be a celebration of Beryl’s life at a later date.
