Obituary for Blandine "GG" Brais (Lafayette Beausoleil)

Blandine Lafayette Beausoleil Brais of Medfield, MA, independent spirit and proud matriarch, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2020 at Newton Wellesley Hospital. Sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Blandine touched the lives of so many. Blandine is survived by her three children, Blandine Brais (Diane McDonald) of Brewster, Candice Palson and her husband Barry of Medfield and Christopher Brais and his wife Nancy of Medfield. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Rebecca (Matthew) Hjort of Plainville, Kristen Palson of Medfield, Kimberly (Jason) Frigon of Franklin, Eric (Kasi) Palson of Norfolk, and Anita Colamaria (Michael Davis) of South Boston, and great-grandchildren: Abigail, Robert and Benjamin Hjort, Jake and Baree Frigon, Madelyn and Maxwell Palson and Pollina Palson and Ethan Koufos. She is predeceased by her husband of fifty-eight years, H. Roland, and her sisters Gabrielle Finn and Isabelle Sullivan. She will be fondly remembered by their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Blandine was born April 25, 1922 in Pawtucket, RI, the eldest daughter of Albert A. and Blandine Lafayette Beausoleil. A diligent and dedicated student, Blandine graduated from high school at age sixteen. After earning her Bachelor’s degree at Bryant College at the age of eighteen, Blandine proudly took a position at the Rhode Island State House in Providence. She married the love of her life on June 8, 1944, elegantly styled in contemporary wartime fashion. They happily started their family in Pawtucket and Warwick, RI after he returned from overseas. They enjoyed many happy times in RI particularly by the seashore. The Brais family moved to Medfield in 1962. While raising her family in Medfield, Blandine also worked as an Executive Vice President at Arrow Business Forms for over twenty years and was a long-time member of the Hannah Adams Woman’s Club. Lovingly referred to as GG, she enjoyed participating in the many special moments in the lives of her children and grandchildren, from recitals and graduations to weddings and birthdays “and many more”. She was blessed to be surrounded by the love of her family. A memorial service will be held at St. Edward’s Church in Medfield on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 11:30am. Interment will be at Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket, RI at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Center in Medfield, a place Blandine frequented and enjoyed for bridge and various other social events.
