My Dad

I am the man that I am today because of your unwavering support and patience as a father. You always explained the best way to do things. From driving, to hiking, to gardening, to baseball. You knew the little nuances of how to do it better. There was nothing I couldn’t ask you about. You had an answer or advice for everything and there was something to be learned in each situation.

I had your support. No matter what happened we would tackle it together and figure it out. Your relentless “See Ya!” every time I swung the bat, let me know how proud of me you were.

I wrote my college essay about you as my role model. I wrote that you were a self-made, self-taught, successful man. To me, you were everything I wanted to be.

As a father now I often think to myself, “How would Dad have handled that.” I can only pray to be as great of a father as you were. Chris, Jen, and I truly are your crowning achievements.

The last few years were not easy. The battles you fought both mentally and physically took a toll. It was hard to watch, but you will always be remembered as my kind, loving, caring Dad.

I am proud to have called you Dad. I wouldn’t have had it any other way. You will be missed. I love you.
