Obituary for David F Cook

David F. Cook, 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2020 at his home in Medfield, MA surrounded by family members. He was a beloved husband to his late beautiful bride Claire Marie (Van Leeuwen). He was born on August 8, 1930 to Holly Rockwood and Dorothy (Freeman) Cook, of Needham, MA. He was predeceased by his three sisters Rhoda Crawford of Scituate, Jean Jacques of Cumberland, RI, Mary Ann Evans of Falmouth, and a brother John of Needham. Survived by son David Cook, daughters Debra Musseau, Denise Hackett, and Sandra Canavan. He adored and loved his six grandchildren Christina Tucker, Ray Fontaine, Jennifer Cook, Jessica Musseau and Colin & Kyle Canavan. His great grandchildren were his pride and joy Weston, Raymond, Brystol, Claire, Autumn, Emma and baby Rance David on the way.
David grew up in Needham, MA and attended Needham Public Schools and continued his education at Norfolk County Agricultural in Walpole. He originally studied farming although found his passion in carpentry. He met the love of his life, Claire on a blind date. Together they purchased a lot in Medfield in 1959 and David built his house, and she made it home.
David is remembered for his passion and interests gardening, square dancing, camping, playing cribbage, solitaire, and traveling to his vacation home in Florida. He also enjoyed being a Mason, member of the Acacia club in Medfield. Most of all he enjoyed having his family together at cookouts in the backyard by the pool.
Burial will be private with a celebration of David’s life to be announced at a later date. Graveside service for family will be held Thursday, May 28th 2020 at 11 a.m.
