Obituary for Charles J. Hutt

Charles (Charlie) Joseph Peter Hutt died early Christmas morning at the age of 65 following a two-year battle with cancer.

Born in Needham, Charlie was the son of the late Bernard and Mary (Flood) Hutt.

Following his graduation from Medfield High School in 1974, Charlie served in the United States Navy until he was honorably discharged in February 1984. Charlie became an expert in his field as a cement mason working for the Local #3 Masons Union for over 35 years before retiring in 2018.

Charlie met Barbara Hutt, his soul mate, shortly after being discharged from the Navy. After they married in March 1984, Charlie and Barbara resided in Millis before finding home in Medway. Charlie was known by his family and friends as having a sharp wit and an open heart. If somebody needed a hand, Charlie was there first to help. And if he couldn’t help, he would share a laugh. He was an avid Boston sports fan, he loved fishing and golfing with his friends and family, but nothing was more important to him than his wife, daughters, and granddaughter, all of whom he loved and held so dear.

Charlie leaves behind Barbara (Sheppard) Hutt, his beloved wife of 38 years. He was the loving father of Gillian E. Hutt and Sarah K. (Hutt) McCrossan, father-in-law to Daniel McCrossan, and grandfather to Maeve McCrossan, who brought light to him during his darkest hours.

He was the cherished brother to Bernard Hutt Jr. and his wife Candace of Franklin, Jeanne Marie Cady and her husband Stephen of MO, Matthew Hutt of Rockland, Tish Whitmarsh and her husband David of Franklin, and Patrick Hutt and his wife Tracy of Rockland. He was the son-in-law of Carl Sheppard of Medway; and brother-in-law to Frank Urmanski of WI, Carl Sheppard, Jr., of Medway, Cathy Sheppard of Medway, Tina Sheppard and her husband Chris Sissons of Medway, and Eric Sheppard and his wife Deb of Millis. He was predeceased by his sister Mary and her husband Harold Kitch of Franklin, sister Cathleen Urmanski of WI, brother Thomas Hutt of Somerville, brother James Hutt of FL, mother-in-law Flora Sheppard of Medway and sister-in-law Nancy Sheppard of Medway. Charlie was also survived my many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held 11am on Friday, December 31, 2021 at the the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home in Medfield MA, followed by burial at the Evergreen Cemetery in Medway. Visiting hours will be Friday, 9-11am
