David Iverson, age 89 formally of Medfield, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Norwood.
David was born in Boston to the late George and Hazel (McCormick) Iverson. He was predeceased by his four brothers and three sisters. David graduated from Hyde Park Highschool where he played football, tennis and ran track.
David was married to the late Anna L (Mattozzi) Iverson for 58 years. He was a homebuilder and developer for 60 years in the area. He was a past president of the Homebuilders of Greater Boston. He was a wonderful mentor and coach for Medfield Little League Baseball, Summer League Basketball and supported Medfield Athletics for many years. He had been a member of the Permanent School Planning and Building Committee for many years, which helped build the Wheelock School as well as complete the renovations to the High School and Blake Middle School. He loved playing tennis and skiing with his family. David also enjoyed singing and dancing. He particularly loved singing songs on his player piano such as, “AINT SHE SWEET”.
David was a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by children Georganne Gerlach of Medfield, David Iverson JR of Mesa, AZ and the late Robert Iverson of Medfield as well as granddaughters Kimberly Kelley of Medfield, Kara Iverson and Bryan Lentz of Santa Ana, CA, Cory Iverson and wife Melissa Belich of Denver, CO, and great grandchildren Ekaterina Kelley of Medfield and Beckett and Irelynn Lentz of Santa Ana. He is also survived by family friends John Gerlach of Bellingham, Sandra Iverson of Stoughton, Janet Mattozzi of Dedham, many nieces and nephews and friends and staff at Sunrise Assisted Living.
Visiting hours will be Saturday 10-11am at the Funeral Home followed by a prayer service. Burial to follow at Vine Lake Cemetery.
