Obituary

Dorothy F. (Feeney) Ruzzo, 85 died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 21, 2019 surrounded by her children. Born in Hyde Park, Dorothy was raised by her mother, the late Dorothy (Amuzzini) Feeney, a strong and determined woman. She instilled those characteristics in her only child and they would serve her well in her life. After graduating Hyde Park High School, Dorothy attended Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School and soon after married the love of her life, Anthony Ruzzo of Hyde Park. Tony had a big personality and was the youngest in a large family that she embraced fully. For 17 years Dorothy and Tony celebrated life, and together raised an army of children until his passing in 1977. Her strong faith in God gave her the patience and humor necessary to raise 11 children on her own. Early on Dorothy enjoyed playing tennis, bridge with friends and of course attending all of her children’s sporting events. She had a passion for helping others. She delivered Meals on Wheels and was a Home Health Aide for many years. She was a proud member of the Red Hatters, a Eucharistic Minister and a permanent fixture at the Medfield Senior Center. Dorothy had a tremendous sense of humor, loved to travel and was usually first on the dance floor. She was fortunate to enjoy much of this with her longtime companion, an old high school friend, Harry Evans, who brought her great joy and love. Dorothy’s faith, unique spirit and positive outlook on life will be the legacy she leaves behind for her children, grandchildren and all who knew her. She is survived by her children Patty Iafolla and her husband Jeff of Medfield, Cathy Callaghan and her husband Bob of Medfield, Tony Ruzzo and his wife Sue of Medfield, Joseph Ruzzo and his fiance Meredith of GA, Stephen Ruzzo and his wife Jen of Whitinsville, Barbara Deady and her husband John of Medfield, Jimmy Ruzzo of Quincy, Marie Ruzzo of Medfield, Tommy Ruzzo and his wife Susie of Medfield, Danny Ruzzo and his wife Rebecca of CT, Dorothy Ruzzo of Quincy. 22 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and her companion Harry Evans. All who knew Dorothy are invited to visit with the family on Thursday, August 29 from 4-8pm at the Roberts Mitchell Caruso Funeral Home, 15 Miller St,Medfield.A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, August 30 at 10am at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 133 Spring St, Medfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy’s name to St. Edward the Confessor Church and the Medfield Senior Center. A celebratory luncheon will be held following the burial at the Medfield Senior Center. All are welcome

The Stagecoach. Snyder, Oxbow, Wilson, Ridge, and Lee Rd. family wouldn't have been what is was without the Ruzzo's. A wonderful family led by a bright light. Wish you all the best.

My deepest condolences to the entire Ruzzo family. I will always cherish the memories of your mother over the years and especially her sincere friendship with my parents. She was truly a "mom" to everyone and I am sure a lot of us can say she was the "Swim Pond mom" who looked over all of us with her smile and beauty that engulfed us all. Her long awaited date with your father has finally arrived. God Bless you all.
