Dorothy F. (Feeney) Ruzzo, 85 died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 21, 2019 surrounded by her children. Born in Hyde Park, Dorothy was raised by her mother, the late Dorothy (Amuzzini) Feeney, a strong and determined woman. She instilled those characteristics in her only child and they would serve her well in her life. After graduating Hyde Park High School, Dorothy attended Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School and soon after married the love of her life, Anthony Ruzzo of Hyde Park. Tony had a big personality and was the youngest in a large family that she embraced fully. For 17 years Dorothy and Tony celebrated life, and together raised an army of children until his passing in 1977. Her strong faith in God gave her the patience and humor necessary to raise 11 children on her own. Early on Dorothy enjoyed playing tennis, bridge with friends and of course attending all of her children’s sporting events. She had a passion for helping others. She delivered Meals on Wheels and was a Home Health Aide for many years. She was a proud member of the Red Hatters, a Eucharistic Minister and a permanent fixture at the Medfield Senior Center. Dorothy had a tremendous sense of humor, loved to travel and was usually first on the dance floor. She was fortunate to enjoy much of this with her longtime companion, an old high school friend, Harry Evans, who brought her great joy and love. Dorothy’s faith, unique spirit and positive outlook on life will be the legacy she leaves behind for her children, grandchildren and all who knew her.
