Obituary for Elaine E. Rothstein
Elaine Elise Rothstein, age 75, of Holliston, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023. She was the loving wife of Saul Rothstein for 53 years as well as a caring mother and wonderful pediatric nurse practitioner.
Born in Hollis, Queens, NY she was the daughter of the late Georgette (Lavoie) and Edwin Wood. As a pediatric nurse practitioner she cared for generations of “her babies” in the Boston area and was adored by them all.
Elaine had a loving family to whom she passed on her love of the arts, crafts, and wanderlust. She was a champion knitter and specialized in Irish knit sweaters. And she was a world traveler having visited every continent, every state, every ocean and every US national park.
Elaine was a graduate of Hunter College in New York with a Bachelors in Nursing; she completed her Nurse Practitioner studies with a Masters degree at Simmons College in Boston.
In addition to her husband Saul Rothstein, she is survived by four children: Deborah Sweet and her husband Bill of Holliston, MA; Jonathan Rothstein of Belchertown, MA; Joseph Rothstein and his wife Nessa, recently of Washington State; and Brian Rothstein of Randolph, MA. In addition, she is survived by her all-but-daughter Stephanie Chasin of Edgewater, NJ; 12 grandchildren and as many as four surrogate grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Negròn and her husband John of Staten island, NY.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 11:00 am at Roberts Mitchell Caruso Funeral Home at 15 Miller Street, Medfield, MA. Burial will be at Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon MA. After the burial, guests will be welcome at Elaine and Saul’s home at 216 Dalton Road, Holliston, MA 01746.
