Obituary for Elaine Stuis (Sabbag)

STUIS, Elaine (Sabbag) of Medfield, formerly of Westwood, passed away surrounded by her loving family on January 15, 2023.

Elaine was born in Beaufort, South Carolina on February 7, 1943 to George and Evelyn (Leon) Sabbag. George was a Captain in the U.S. Navy, stationed in South Carolina at the time. The family soon moved to Boston, where Elaine graduated from St. Clare High School. She would go on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree at Framingham State College. Elaine became a licensed dietician, and worked in dialysis centers across Massachusetts for over 50 years.

Elaine was a devoted gardener, and grew a magnificent vegetable garden. She was also a talented seamstress, who proudly created all of the family wedding gowns. Elaine had many friends, and enjoyed her time spent socializing, whether it was on Main St. in Medfield, or her vacation home in the Bahamas. Above all, Elaine was devoted to her family, from raising her daughter Julie, to taking care of her parents in their final years, to becoming a devoted grandmother “Sitto” who never missed one of Joey, James, or Kathryn’s games or performances.

Elaine was wife of the late Charles Stuis and the late James Clinton. Dear and devoted mother of Julie Layden and her husband Joseph “Jay” of Medfield. Loving grandmother “Sitto” of Joseph “Joey”, James, and Kathryn Layden. Dear sister of Robert Sabbag and Patricia Riley of Wellfleet, Michael Sabbag and his wife Rosita of Alabama, William Sabbag and his wife Kathleen of New York, Therese Maguire and her husband Russ of Mansfield. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Calling hours Thursday 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Roberts Mitchell Caruso Funeral Home 15 Miller St. Medfield. Funeral Mass Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Church 133 Spring St. Medfield. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Interment will conclude services at New Westwood Cemetery.
