Obituary for Ellen Marie Santos (Riordan)
Ellen Marie (Riordan) Santos, age 86, having resided in Mequon, WI; Kennesaw, GA; Sterling, VA; and Wendell and Millis, MA, passed away on Saturday, March 4th at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon, WI.
Ellen (Honey) was born in Boston, MA on February 21, 1937. She was the middle of 3 children born to Charles V. and Mary (O’Reily) Riordan. When Honey was 14, her family, including her older brother, the late Charles D. moved to Millis MA. Honey is survived by her younger sister Judi (Johnstone) and her husband George from Statesville, NC, formally from Rome, ME, and Franklin, MA.
Honey is also survived by her five children, Robin Rojee-Taillefer and her husband Joseph Taillefer of Norfolk, MA; Lisa Link and her husband John of Mequon, WI; John Santos Jr. of Franklin, MA; Charles Santos and his wife Kristen of Kennesaw, GA; and Amy Pooser of Washington D.C. She also leaves behind fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Honey graduated from Millis High School. She then went to Boston City School of Nursing, graduating as an R.N. in November 1957. After marrying the late John Santos Sr. and starting their family, Honey left nursing and could often be found helping at the Santos Family business, Millis Brook Farm, Greenhouses, and Florist.
Honey was a talented knitter and delighted in creating unique sweaters for many; she especially enjoyed knitting clothes and hats for newborns and teaching others the craft.
Roberts Mitchell Caruso Funeral Home,15 Miller Street, Medfield, MA. will preside over Ellen’s cremains. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 AM on Saturday, August 12, 2023.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM at St. Edward the Confessor Parish, 133 Spring St., Medfield, MA. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Millis, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ellen’s name to the food pantry at Capuchin Community Services in Milwaukee Wisconsin www.capuchincommunityservices.org
