Eugene Pflueger at the age of 62, sadly lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on January 29, 2019 with family and friends surrounding him. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Gene was the beloved son of the late Harry and Violetta Pflueger. He was the loving husband of Janet (Gallagher) Pflueger for 32 years, and devoted father of Nicole and Michael Pflueger.
A graduate of Northeastern University, Gene had an illustrious career as a software engineer. Among other places, his work took him to Belfort, France and he holds 10 patents on data storage technology.
Son-in-Law of Florence Gallagher and the late John Gallagher, Gene is survived by his brother Richard (Helen) of Lodi, NJ, sister Susan (Ken) Perry of Reeders, PA, several nieces and nephews and dear friends including his closest friend Doug LeCrone of Hopkinton, MA, all of whom cherished the time they spent with him and will honor his memory.
Gene was a master craftsman and a connoisseur of fine wine and cuisine. He could often be found wood-working, cooking and fishing. He loved to travel and appreciated live music, a good book, a baseball game and spending time with those he loved.
Gene lived his life to the fullest, each and every day, no matter what challenges he faced, treasuring every moment he had. His family is grateful for the professional and compassionate care they received at Massachusetts General Hospital during his final days.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, February 28th from 4-7 at Roberts Mitchell Caruso Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Gene to the Palliative Care Service Fund at Massachusetts General Hospital. Checks can be made payable to Massachusetts General Hospital and can be mailed to: MGH Development Office, c/o Chelsea Morey, 125 Nashua Street, Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114-1101.

I've known Gene since the 80's at working at Cullinet and we worked together more recently at EMC. Even went to Gene and Janet's wonderful wedding. I cannot say enough about Gene's pride in his work, his family, his friends, and his passions in life. It was an honor to have known him.
Cancer just isn't fair, and it took Gene way too early in life. My wife and I offer our condolences to Gene's family and friends.

I worked with Gene for years across two companies, Cullinet and Programart, getting to know him as a man with a can-do attitude, a true professional you could always count on. He was truly one of the 'good ones'.

I am saddened to hear of Gene's passing and extend my sincere condolences to his family.

My deepest sympathies and sincere condolences to Gene’s family during this difficult time. I first met Gene many years ago while at Cullinet, although back then we worked in different areas. When I joined EMC about 3 years ago, I had the privilege to work with Gene, his dedication and passion for his work was so evident from the moment I walked in the door. I also enjoyed our periodic chats about barbequing and woodworking. Gene will be sorely missed and always remembered.

I just received this news and send my heartfelt condolences in Gene's passing -- he was a consummate professional and kind, generous person! I worked with Gene at Cullinet Software for many years, and though not directly, as a fellow colleague at Dell EMC. My sincere wishes and prayers to Gene's family and friends - truly a prince among men! In sympathy and fellowship, Stephanie Luz Abrams
