Obituary for Gail Windsor Legget (Crosby)

Gail Windsor Leggett (nee Crosby) passed away peacefully on January 6th, 2022, in the presence of her loving family. Gail was born on October 1st, 1939, in Winsted, CT, and spent her early years in Colebrook, CT. On September 5th, 1959 she married Malcolm (Sam) Leggett. They were married for 62 years. Together, they lived in New Jersey, California, Connecticut, Upstate New York, and Massachusetts. They lived for many years in Medfield, Massachusetts. In the Bicentennial year of 1976, Gail created the Medfield Minute Maidens. Gail was an enthusiastic director of the Episcopal Young Churchmen at St. Paul’s church in Millis for many years.

In 1998, she and Sam realized their life’s dream and retired to Sagamore Beach, on Cape Cod. Gail loved the Cape Cod beaches and avidly collected seashells and beach glass she found. In all seasons she loved sitting at the beach and watching the ocean. Her children and grandchildren have many favorite beach memories created especially for them by Gail.

Gail had an adventurous spirt and made the ordinary extraordinary. She cared deeply about others and created a personal ministry through cards and letters sent to dozens of friends and family. No occasion was too small to commemorate, and every accomplishment was celebrated.

Along with her much -loved husband Sam, Gail is gratefully remembered by her daughter Elizabeth Windsor and husband Tom Robbins of Medfield, son Julian and wife Barbara Park of East Aurora, NY, grandchildren Amelia Leggett, Claire Leggett, Joshua Windsor-Knox and Scott Robbins, Millard cousins, and many beloved nieces and nephews and their children.

A memorial service will be celebrated in late spring and her ashes interred at the Vine Lake cemetery in Medfield, MA.
