Obituary for Gerald Wolff

Gerald Wolff, age 95, passed away on December 16, 2022. He was the husband of the late Ruth Wolff. They settled in Framingham and shared 60 years of marriage together.
Born in Hamburg Germany, Jerry was the son of Eugenie (Bass) Wolff and Walter Wolff. Raised in New York City, he went on to receive a Bachelor Degree from City College in New York and a Master’s Degree from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. He worked as an Electrical Engineer and was a Pioneer in the creation of the barcode system. In 1973 he developed a US patent for label reading on automobiles at Toll booths, thus eliminating the need to stop and pay.
Jerry had a love for the outdoors, was an avid reader and enjoyed Classical music. Most of all, Jerry was known for his generosity, kindness and sense of humor.
He enjoyed the last 5 years of his life at Newbridge on the Charles in Dedham MA where he made new friends and was greatly admired by the employees.
He is survived by his daughter Naomi Dugdale and her husband Richard of Millis Ma and his son Daniel Wolff of Glen NH.
Cherished grandfather to Benjamin Dugdale of Ipswich MA, Rachel Gallagher of Franklin MA, Mark Wolff of Rhode Island and Eli Dugdale of Millis, MA.
Loving brother of Rudi and Barbara Wolff of New York, as well as being an uncle to their son Benjamin Wolff.
He is survived by six great grandchildren.
The burial will be private with a remembrance in the Spring of 2023.
