Obituary for Ida K. Struck (Calnan)

Of Millis and formerly of Medway, passed away peacefully, late in the evening of Saturday, October 22, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was 93 years old.
She was the beloved wife of the late Edward P. Kerwin, Sr. for 45 years until his passing in 1994, and the devoted daughter of the late John W. and Daisy D. (Halliwell) Calnan of Medway.
Ida was born on July 5, 1929, was a graduate of Medway High School, Class or 1947. She attended Bridgewater State College, then graduated from St. Elizabeth’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1952.
Ida worked at Norwood Hospital for 30 years, Fox Health Center, and North Hill Assisted Living Facility. While at North Hill she received her certification in Gerontology from UMass Boston.
Ida was a Communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Millis. She volunteered at the Millis Food Pantry, and was a Facilitator at St. Edward’s Bereavement group where she met her beloved husband of 20 years, Charles Struck, whom we lost in 2016.
Ida was the devoted mother of Kate Opanasets of Laconia NH, the late Edward P. Kerwin Jr, Joseph M. Kerwin and his wife Deborah of Maine, Patricia A. Cohen and her husband Rafael of Colchester CT, Susan M. Lynch and husband Lincoln of Norton MA, John W. Kerwin and wife Sherry of NH. She was also devoted to her step children Joni M. Gray and husband Richard of NJ, Elaine Simkovitch and husband Martin of PA, Karen Strinka and husband Donald of FL and Alice Jannini and husband Anthony of NJ.
She was the proud Grandmother and Great Grandmother of many, many children.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, 151 Village St., Medway, MA 02053, on Saturday, October 29, 2022, 11:30 AM, followed by burial at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Millis. Visiting hours will precede Mass at Roberts Mitchell Caruso Funeral Home, 90 Curve St., Millis, MA 02054, Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
