Obituary for James Roy "Jim" Amnott
A longtime resident of Medfield, he passed away peacefully at home with family on November 9, 2019. He was 82 years old. Born in Danvers, MA, Jim was the son of Clarence and Lydia (Chapdelaine) Amnott. He is survived by his wife, Anne (Scribner) Amnott, son Craig and wife Yong Ae of New York, son Glenn and wife Tammy of NH, and daughter Nicole Amnott Tongue of Medfield, MA. He is also survived by two sisters: Carol Skinner of Georgetown, MA, Lynn (and Bill) Mercier of Danvers, MA; brother Dennis (and Helen) of Londonderry NH, and nine wonderful grandchildren: Jae, Troy, Tyler, Grace, Cody, Luke, Camaron, Jacob and Gabriel, two great granddaughters, Kiah and Ina, as well as many dear nephews and nieces.
After graduating from Clark University, Jim served for three years in the Army in Germany. He worked as a pharmaceutical rep in NY, and later as Operations Manager at Stocker & Yale in Beverly MA. He and Anne lived at “The Farm” in Medfield, were Jim lovingly cared for his mother and father-in-law until their deaths. In later life he boarded horses and ran pony parties and pony camps.
Jim was a master craftsman. After making an unusual “rifle-cane” for himself, so much interest was generated that it led to a retirement business of cane and cribbage board making from his woodshop.
Jim was the go-to for good advice and unfailingly present for anyone who needed his help - physical or emotional. He served as trustee and deacon at the Newton Covenant Church, where his culinary skills also resulted in many fine dinners. He enjoyed many clubs and the friends he met there. But more importantly, his faith was firmly planted in Jesus Christ as His Savior and Lord.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
