Obituary for James D. Harris

HARRIS, James Duncan, 85, of Medfield, MA passed away peacefully on Monday December 21, 2020 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital after a long and happy life. Jim was born and raised in Hopedale, MA before moving to Medfield in 1978.

Beloved husband of the late Sally Ann (Harlow) Harris. Loving father of Bradley J. Harris and wife Nicole of Canton, and Steven A. Harris and wife Kathryn of Wayland. Brother of the late David C. Harris and wife Cynthia of Normandy Beach, NJ. Cherished grandfather of Cooper Harris, Redding Harris, Penelope Harris, and Maxwell Harris.

Jim served in the U.S. Army in the 1950s as a teletype operator and was a graduate of Burdett College in Boston. He worked for Draper Corporation in Hopedale before joining C.H. Powell Company in 1976 where he worked for 34 years.

Jim was a people person, always ready to chat with anyone with a smile on his face. He took great pride in his family, loved the New England Patriots, enjoyed complaining about the Red Sox, and ate a bowl of ice cream every night.

Services will be private. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, or the next time you have a scotch, raise your glass to Jim.
