Obituary for James J. Walsh Jr.

James J. Walsh, Jr., age 65, of Millis where he had been a resident of 24 years, died on Tuesday April 19, 2023 surrounded by his three loving daughters.

Born in Needham and formerly of Medfield, Jim was a skilled glazier, having worked for the Union and as an independent contractor. From the tallest of skyscrapers, to the Boston aquarium, to homes throughout New England, no job was too big or too small for Jim.

He enjoyed fixing and collecting antique cars and trucks. He frequented many car shows throughout the years and was most proud of his 1956 Ford F100. Jim was the ultimate handyman. He could fix anything or “knew a guy” who could help. He was compassionate to all animals, and especially adored his dog, Patches. He was generous, strong, funny, the best storyteller, and a friend to anyone who knew him. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and being Papa to his beloved grandsons.

Jim was known and loved by many. He is survived by his three daughters and their families: Caroline, Danny, and Luke Dillon of Millis, Rachel, Sam, and Nathaniel Hopperstad of Medway, and Amy and Will Finlay of Quincy. He was the devoted son of James J. Walsh Sr. and his wife Jean, of Dedham, brother of Mark Bulger and his wife Ellen Macchi of West Roxbury, Beth Zodda and her husband Rob of Norfolk, and Jennifer Greymont of New Hampshire. He is joining his loving wife of 32 years, Edie Walsh, in Heaven. He is also predeceased by Alan “Chip” Moulton, Frances Malone, Jill Savignano, and Jeffrey “Cappy” Walsh.

His funeral to which all are invited will be held Wednesday, April 26 at 10:00 AM at the Roberts Mitchell Caruso Funeral Home, at 15 Miller St, Medfield with burial following at Prospect Hill Cemetery Millis.

Funeral home visiting hours are Tuesday April 25 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Roberts Mitchell Caruso in Medfield.
