Obituary for Joan E Bussow

Joan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 19th after a long illness at Briarwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Needham, MA. She was 91 years old.
Joan was born on January 24, 1928 at her home in Lyndhurst NJ to the late William and Louise (Mack) Landells.
Graduating at the top of her class from Lyndhurst High School at the age of 16, Joan went on to work for the telephone company. Shortly thereafter while attending a dance social after work, she met her husband of 68 years Warren Bussow.
With her young family, she spent much of her spare time in NY city where she loved Rockefeller Center and Radio City Music Hall. She especially loved being in the city during the Christmas season with the holiday lights and storefront decorations.
Upon relocation from New Jersey to Medfield, Joan worked at Etta Maloney Real Estate for many years. She was an active member of the Hannah Adams Women’s Club, town volunteer, and long standing faithful member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Norwood where she made life long friends.
Joan was an avid reader, often finishing a book in a few short sittings. Her mastery of vocabulary and quick wit, gave her the ability to solve any crossword puzzle she attempted.
In retirement, Joan traveled extensively with her husband and friends. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, playing Bridge, and was avid Red Sox Fan. She treasured most the times surrounded by family.
Joan is survived by her loving Husband, Warren J Bussow. Her son, David J and his wife Dawn of Morriston FL, Daughter Janet E Nickerson and her husband Robert of Medfield, and Daughter Lorraine who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her sister Louise Blake and her brother William Landells.
Joan’s greatest joy were her Grandchildren. She is reunited in Heaven with her late Grandson T.J. Bussow. She is survived by her Grandchildren, David Bussow and his partner Ashley, Patrick Nickerson and wife Andrea, Daniel Nickerson, and Kathryn Nickerson.
Later in life she welcomed her two Great Granddaughters Aria Bussow and Liberty Nickerson into the world. Joan had many Nieces and Nephews who lovingly referred to her as “Aunt Joan”
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the wonderful Nurses and Aides and staff at Briarwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Needham as well as the loving care she received from Ascend Hospice Services.
