Obituary for Joan Irene Shropshire (Wasnewsky)
Of Millis, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2022 at the age of 91.
Joan was born on February 2, 1931 to Chester and Ceslawa (Malachowski) Wasnewsky. Joan grew up in Medway and attended the Medway Schools. Upon graduation she worked at the Julius Tofias Hat Shop in Medfield.
Joan met her husband Edward (Buddy) Shropshire at Furlongs Dairy in Millis, dated, fell in love, married in 1950, built their house in Millis and were married for 72 years.
Joan is survived by her husband Buddy, her daughter Deborah Bennet of Hamilton, and her son Paul Shropshire of Lantana, Florida. She was the very special grandmother of Kristina Crestin of Essex, and Mitchell Shropshire of Lantana, Florida. Joan was predeceased by her sister Lucy McGowan and brothers Mitchell and Fr. Richard Wasnewsky.
Joan was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother a gentle soul who loved animals.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated for Joan on Monday, August 1, 11:00 AM, at Roberts Mitchell Caruso Funeral Home, 90 Curve St., Millis, MA 02054, followed by burial at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Millis.
