Obituary for Joanne M McCarthy

Joanne M. (Yanoolis) McCarthy of Bluffton, SC, died unexpectedly in her home on Sunday, February 28,2021 at the age of 79.
The daughter of the late Andrew and Agnes Yanoolis; she was born and raised in South Boston, MA. She moved to Medfield, MA shortly after marrying the late Richard E. McCarthy, where they raised their three children. When her daughter Karen move to Bluffton, SC, Joanne decided to leave the cold winters behind and go as well. Joanne cherished the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.
She was an active member of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Medfield, where she was a Eucharistic minister for many years, and St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Bluffton. She was a generous person, with both her time and money, and contributed to many charitable organizations. An avid Red Sox fan, Joanne looked forward to Opening Day when she could start watching her beloved Red Sox play!
She is survived by her three children, Paul McCarthy of CO, Karen Balerna and her husband Gene of SC, and Robert McCarthy and Effie Paine of TX, her beloved grandchildren, Scott, Craig, Courtney, Timothy, Kennedy and Cristian, and her siblings Charles Yanoolis, Agnes Hutchings, and Patricia Davidson. She is predeceased by her brother, John Yanoolis and sister, Mary Ann Maio.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in Celebration of Joanne’s Life at Saint Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, Medfield, MA on Thursday March 11, 2021 at 11:30AM. Interment will follow at the Vine Lakes Cemetery in Medfield. Visiting hours will be held at Roberts Mitchell Caruso Funeral Home,15 Miller St, Medfield on Thursday March 11 from 9:30-11:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital in her name.
