Obituary for Joseph "Joe" Grzyb

Joseph S. Grzyb, 83, of Medfield, MA, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2020 at the Veterans Hospital in Brockton, MA.
Son of the late Catherine Stacia (Kowalczyk) Grzyb and Joseph S. Grzyb. He was the devoted father of Sharon Grzyb of Mansfield, MA; proud grandfather of Amythest Grzyb and great grandfather of Calvin Chandler, both of New Bedford, MA. Joe also leaves behind “his sweetheart” and significant other of 41 years, Ninga Ostrander of Medfield; and her daughter, Debra Ostrander of Whitinsville. He was predeceased by his son, Michael J. Grzyb; his sisters Irene Wildman and Theresa Grzyb, and his brother, George Grzyb. He also leaves behind several loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joe was proud of his Polish heritage and loved listening to music, especially his polkas and Elvis Presley. Joe was an animal lover, and all animals loved Joe. He was happiest when he was feeding the birds or caring for a stray animal in need. He loved spending time at his family’s cottage in Pocasset, fishing and being with his family. Joe will be remembered most for his generous and compassionate heart, especially those who were less fortunate.
Joe proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Beckwith Post American Legion 110, and a member of the Millis Amvets Post 495. He was an accomplished Tool and Die Maker and worked for Hersey Manufacturing and Honeywell for many years.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held by the family at a future date.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors of the Veterans Hospital in West Roxbury and Brockton for their exceptional care and kindness towards Joe and his family.
