Obituary for Joseph L Travers

Joseph Leo Travers Jr. died peacefully on Friday February 5, 2021 at Beth Israel hospital (in Boston). He was 84.
Born in Medford, Massachusetts in 1936, he was the son of Joseph Leo Travers Sr. and Anne (Crehan) Travers. He was a 1958 graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. After a brief stint at Boeing as an aeronautical engineer he spent much of the rest of his career in technical sales. He ended his long career at Parker Hanniffin in 2002. Joe spent much of his adult life residing in Millis with his wife Catherine. He was very active in the town serving on the finance committee, the board of selectmen and as a little league manager. He was an avid reader, world traveler, sports enthusiast and known by many as “the man with the most toys.”
Joseph recently lost his beloved wife Catherine Francis Travers. He was the loving father of Judy Travers and her partner, Robert McPherson of Revere, Joseph Travers and his wife Terry, of Jacksonville FL, Jeanne Travers Stetson and her husband Brian of Norfolk, Patrick Travers and his partner Thao Sands of Boca Raton FL, Joanne Travers O’Connell of Millis, the late John Travers of Watertown and the late Michael Travers of North Carolina. He was also the brother of Brian Travers of Peabody, Nancy Travers of Yonkers NY and the late James Travers of North Carolina. He is survived by 10 grandchildren; Raleigh and Travis Stetson, Colin and Austin Travers, Caroline and Joseph Travers, Gavin, Addeline, Reese and Avery O’Connell as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours for Joseph and Catherine will be held at Roberts Mitchell Caruso Funeral Home, 15 Miller St., Medfield, MA 02052, on Saturday, February 20, 2021 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM.
All guests are required to wear face coverings and are asked to observe the current social distancing guidelines.
