Obituary for Lois N. Rankin

Lois Nina (Dauley) Rankin, 88, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2023, in Oviedo, Florida.

Lois was born on December 26, 1934, in Wellesley, Massachusetts, to the late Walter and Dorothy (Nelson) Dauley. She was the only child and cherished the close relationships she had with her doting parents.

After Lois’ 1953 graduation from Wellesley High School, she studied at Lasalle Junior College, graduating in 1955 after acquiring a set of loved, longstanding friendships. Lois was a lifelong learner and went on to graduate with her Associates Degree from Northwestern University in 1986, became a licensed real estate agent, and often took advantage of the classes offered at the Medfield Public Library and senior center. Lois loved to talk politics and found it difficult to resist such discussions. She was an avid traveler, visiting countries around the globe well into her seventies. Though traveling was her passion, Lois was always happy to return home as a proud resident of Medfield, MA before moving to Florida in 2021 to be with family.

Lois was predeceased by her beloved son David Rankin. She is survived by her son, Lawson Rankin (MA); four grandchildren, Kimberly Rankin (FL), Danielle Rankin (MA), Larry Rankin (MO), and Brandon Woods (MO); and a host of great-grandchildren. Lois is also survived by several treasured friends, neighbors, and caregivers.

A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, May 19, 2023, 10:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery, 148 Brook St., Wellesley, MA, 02482.
