Obituary for Mark T Govoni
Mark Taylor Govoni of Glendale, AZ, formerly of Medfield, MA, passed away on March 26th 2022 at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ at the age of 53, in the loving arms of his wife, Gail Douglass Govoni. Mark was born on August 26, 1968 in Toledo, OH.
After graduating from Medfield High School in 1987, Mark attended Westfield State College, graduating in 1991 with a degree in Criminal Justice. He was an accomplished powerlifter, competing in many local New England events as well as at the Nationals. Mark was most passionate about dogs, and had a special gift for dog training. Shortly after moving to Arizona in 2003, he started DesertSkyK9, dedicated to canine obedience training, protection training and service dog training. Mark was highly regarded in dog training circles. He competed in French Ring sport as well as PSA. His wife, Gail, shared in his love for dogs and helped to run Desert Sky K9. Together they rescued numerous dogs throughout the years.
Mark is survived by his soulmate and wife, Gail Douglass Govoni of Glendale, AZ, as well as her son Vincent LuPone of Phoenix, AZ. Mark is survived by his father, Norman Govoni of Medfield, MA and pre-deceased by his mother, Terry Taylor Govoni. He is also survived by his sister, Laura Govoni and her partner Randall Alford of Millis, MA, and brother, Scott Govoni and his wife Elizabeth Govoni of Millis, MA along with nieces Katherine and Maria and nephew Michael.
A funeral mass will be held in Arizona on Friday April 8that 1:30 pm MST (4:30 pm EST) at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church at 13720 W. Thomas Road, Avondale, AZ which will be live-streamed at https://youtu.be/mkEMU3o_Yr8.
A memorial mass will be held in Massachusetts on Monday April 11that 11:30 am EST (8:30 am MST) at St. Edwards Church at 133 Spring Street Medfield, MA which will be live-streamed on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/St-Edwards-Parish-180424121989544
