Obituary for Mary Kinsman

Mary C. Kinsman, age 82, a lifelong resident of Medfield, died on Thursday morning, January 24, 2019, at Norwood Healthcare in Norwood, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born in Framingham on April 9, 1936, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (McDonald) Hinkley, who died in childbirth. She was raised in Medfield by her Aunt Elizabeth and Uncle Thomas Sweeney, and after graduating from Medfield High School worked as a dental assistant the office of Dr. Heiligmann on North Street near the center of town.

Mary married the late Robert A. Kinsman and settled in Medfield, where they remained happily married for 47 years, making a home for their family, which along with two sons, included numerous dogs, cats, and even a couple of ducks and a goose over the many years. Eventually, Mary started a lengthy career as a teacher’s aide at Medfield’s Memorial School, from where she is still remembered by a generation of former kindergarteners for her seemingly endless amounts of patience, generosity, and kindness. In addition, over the years she formed lifelong friendships with the many teachers, aides, and others with whom she worked.

She is survived by her two sons, Patrick Kinsman together with Jennifer Lee of Indianapolis, IN, and David Kinsman and his wife Brandi of Ashland; two grandsons, Nathaniel and Connor Kinsman; and a loving extended family.

Relatives and friends may gather for her Funeral Mass on Tuesday January 29th 10:30am at ST Thomas The Apostle Church 111 Exchange St, Millis. Burial to follow at Vine Lake Cemetery in Medfield. Visiting hours will be Monday January 28th from 5-7 at the Roberts Mitchell Caruso Funeral Home, 15 Miller St Medfield.
