Obituary for Matthew M Kane
Matthew (Matty) M. Kane, Sr., a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on July 28, 2021 in the presence of his loving family.
Matty’s memory will live on through the love of his life of 47 years, Valerie and their children, Matt and his wife Amy of Millis, Dawn and her husband Talbot of Walpole and Nick and his wife Stephanie of the Bahamas. The proud Grampy of Jaime, Casey, Bryan, Jackson, Tyson, Weston, Valerie and Hugo. Matty loved family celebrations, holidays and cheering everyone on from the sidelines of the many sporting events. He never missed a chance to flag down a passing ice cream truck. He also enjoyed spending winters down in Myrtle Beach with his family.
Matty had so many accomplishments including serving as a United States Marine, entering the service at age 17. He was a retired fire inspector and firefighter. He proudly served the Town of Needham for over 30 years. He made sure food and snacks were always available and without exception, made sure to play a practical joke or two to keep everyone on their toes.
His passing is preceded by his mother and father, Margaret and James Kane, and his brother James Kane. He is survived by his brother and sisters, Gertrude, Ellen, Rita, Margie, Patrick, and Irene and many nieces and nephews.
He will be deeply missed by all that had the opportunity and privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be held at Roberts Mitchell Caruso Funeral Home in Medfield on Tuesday, August 3, from 4-7 PM. Graveside service will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Needham, MA. on Wednesday, August 4 at 11:00 AM.
