Obituary for Michael E "Mike" Walker

Michael Edward Walker Sr., of Medfield, Mass., who exhibited great humor, kindness and leadership as
a Naval officer and business executive as well as a devoted husband and father, died July 24, 2022. He
was 81. Michael is survived by his loving wife Marcia (Moore) Walker and his sons Michael Walker Jr., of
New York, and Scott Walker, of Medway, Mass..

Born in Norwood, Mass., Michael was the son of John and Alice Walker, and grew up in Wrentham,
Mass., alongside his brothers John and Brian. He attended Boston College High School, and Boston
College, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration in 1962. After college,
Michael joined the US Navy and served in the Pacific on the USS Oriskany aircraft carrier, earning the
rank of lieutenant commander. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Michael loved Cape Cod, where he worked summers during college as a short-order cook, among other
jobs. In 1968, he met Marcia at the Improper Bostonian in Dennisport, Mass. They were married in
1970, and raised two children, Michael and Scott.

Michael started as a sales representative for the Sun Oil Company in the late 1960s, and he remained at
Sun Oil for more than 35 years, retiring in 2000 as general manager of the Sunoco Retail Heating
Company. In 1986, he and his family moved from Massachusetts to Berwyn, Pa., an area Michael that
grew to love, and where he and Marcia developed deep and lasting friendships. In retirement, Michael
dedicated himself to two of his great passions: golf and helping others. When he wasn't on Philadelphia
area golf courses, you could find him volunteering to drive seniors to medical appointments or do their
shopping.

In addition to his wife, sons and brothers, Michael is survived by his grandson, Sean Walker, his
daughter-in-law, Bonnie Wang, both of New York, his sister-in-laws Kate Walker, of Charlestown, Mass.,
Marie Moore Callanan of Walpole, Mass., and Patricia Moore Pidgeon, of Milton, Mass., and many,
many nieces and nephews. He will remembered as someone who brought laughter, excitement and a
sense of fun to any room he entered, and who made everyone he met feel like they were at the center
of the world.

Visiting hours will be Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Roberts Mitchell Caruso Funeral
Home in Medfield, Mass. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 11:30 a.m. in St.
Edward the Confessor Church in Medfield.
