Obituary for Nancy Wirtes (Campbell)
Nancy Campbell Wirtes passed away on April 28, 2023, due to respiratory complications. She was 73 years old.
Nancy - or Camay, as she was known to friends - always said, ‘Words were her life’ and you could usually find her with a NyTimes Crossword Book nearby. Nancy always had a passion for words, her family and her friends. She was well known for being kind and even-tempered. Nancy was a longtime employee of NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), in Quincy, MA, as Editorial Manager. She truly loved her work and all the beloved friends she met throughout her years there.
Though Nancy’s health was failing for years, few people knew the extent to which she struggled. Her joy for life and love for her family and friends kept her strong over the years.
Nancy is survived by her husband Steven Wirtes and her children Jenna and Steven “Spike” Wirtes, along with her two younger brothers, Bruce and his wife Elaine Campbell, and Douglas and his wife Cindy Campbell.
A memorial service to for Nancy will be celebrated on Monday, May 8, 2023,11:00 AM, at Roberts Mitchell Caruso Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, MA 02052. Visiting hours will be the evening before, Sunday, May 7, from 3PM until 6 PM
