Obituary for Paul D. Merritt
Paul Day Merritt of Millis died peacefully with his family by his side on September 23, 2022.
Paul was born April 19, 1937, to Frank H. and Rena (Chamberlain) Merritt in Worcester, MA. He attended Worcester Public Schools and upon graduation enlisted in the United States Navy. After providing six years of service to his country, Paul attended North Eastern University where he received his bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Administration. He then began his career at Charles River ARC in Needham, MA where he served as the Assistant Director. He continued on to become the Director of Charles River for over three decades.
Paul also spent many years coaching in the Millis Youth Hockey program which led to his 30+ years scouting for the Buffalo Sabers.
Paul was the beloved husband of Deborah (Lind) Merritt and the proud father of Peter Merritt and his wife Holli of Norfolk, MA and Thane (Tad) Merritt and his wife Karen of North Yarmouth, Maine.
Paul is also survived by his grandchildren, Kendall Merritt and her fiancé Colby Arsenault, Alexandra Maldonado and her husband William, Brady Merritt, and two great grandchildren, Declan and Julian.
A private burial service will be attended by his family.
