Obituary for Peter Hinkley

It is with incredible sadness that on Tuesday June 4th our family had to unexpectedly say goodbye Peter Stephen Hinkley Sr. at the far too young age of 75. Peter was born on November 12th 1943 in Framingham Ma. To the late George and Edna (Howard) Hinkley.

He received his stationary engineering and fireman’s license from Peterson school of engineering He married the love of his life Jude(Bonvie) in 1965 and together they raised two children Peter and Lisa in Medfield.

Peter Worked for many years at the Medfield State Hospital and served as President of the AFLCIO union where he was an assiduous advocate for both the staff and residents of the hospital. He was passionate about fighting for those he served. With the impending closure of the State Hospital he was offered a position through the IBEW union and worked for a short time at Suffolk Downs before accepting a position overseeing the power plant at the Framingham General Motors plant. In 1991 he was transferred to the Arlington Texas plant where he retired in 2009 at the age of 65.

Peter had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back. He was an avid gardener and took great pride in “having the best most beautiful gardens and yard”. He and his Hound dog always welcomed a helping hand in putting together whatever puzzle was stretched out across his kitchen table, saying at difficult pieces, “get a hammer for that one!” He loved watching old re-runs of Perry Mason and Columbo and could incorporate Columbo’s signature saying, “Just one more thing...” into a conversation flawlessly. He lived by the motto “go big or go home” never settling for anything but the best. He loved ALL animals big and small and was recently plotting a plan to populate the woods of Medfield with Continental giant bunnies. He had an amazing and at times a bit unconventional sense of humor. He could take any situation and add humor and laughter to it. He loved life and lived it to its fullest.

Peter is survived by his loving and constant companion “The Hound Dog”, his Son Peter Stephen Hinkley Jr and his Fiancé (Jeannie) of Alexandria NH and his Daughter Lisa Marie Donovan and her husband Brian of Medfield.
