Obituary for Rev. Henry G. Chambers

Rev. Henry G. Chambers died on Monday May 9, 2022 after a brief illness. He was 82.

Henry was born and raised in Newton and was educated at St. Mary’s in Waltham where he graduated in 1957. He was the son of James A. and Dorothy (White) Chambers.

Henry entered St. John’s Minor Seminary in Jamaica Plain and graduated in 1959 and went on to St John’s Seminary in Brighton. He was Ordained on February 10, 1965

Henry served as a parish Priest at St. Mary’s in Georgetown, St. Paul’s in Wellesley, St Mary’s in Franklin, and St. Gregory’s in Dorchester. Cardinal Law appointed Henry as Pastor in 1985. His first assignment as Pastor was at Sacred Heart in East Boston and then served as Pastor at St. Patrick’s in Watertown.
He then served as Pastor in Millis at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, which was his final assignment before retiring.

Henry is survived by his sister, Dorothy and her husband (Theodore) Prophet of Brooksville, FL
His sister, Diane Chambers of Danbury, CT and his brother, David Chambers of Methuen, MA,
A niece, Linda John of Heathsville, VA and nephew, Theodore Prophet, of Brooksville, FL

Henry enjoyed skiing, golf and traveling to Vermont and Canada for vacation time.

A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, May 18th 10am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 111 Exchange street in Millis. Followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Needham. Visiting hrs will be Tuesday 4-7 at the Roberts Mitchell Caruso FH, 90 Curve street in Millis.
