Obituary for Richard Lowe

Richard D. Lowe, age 56, died suddenly July 24, 2020 of natural causes in Durham North Carolina. He was the most beloved and dedicated father to his two children that were the center of his universe, Bryan J. Lowe, Franklin, MA and Stephanie J. Lowe, Durham, NC. He also leaves behind an always expanding circle of loyal friends especially his best friend forever, Demos Kouvaris of North Reading, MA. Born June 27, 1964, he was the cherished son of his mother Lois Lowe, South Yarmouth, MA and father Edward Lowe and his wife, Dorothy Lowe, Pawtucket, RI. He was born in Dover, MA, although moved to South Yarmouth with the family at an early age where he was a graduate of Dennis Yarmouth High School Class of 1983 as well as a 1987 graduate of Westfield State University. Rich's children were everything to him, he treasured coaching them at young ages in various sports especially at the hockey rinks, the years on the Cape raising Bryan and Stephanie to run and play along the beaches, skim board the waves, and how to toss the perfect Frisbee. Whether it was taking his children to different sporting events, skiing up North with the family, or just spending time with his abundance of friends and neighbors, Rich always knew how to liven up an event and leave them all laughing. He loved a good time, was forever the "big guy" in the room and could tell a story like no other especially when attending an event with his "DY Boyz." He was the consummate friend, father, husband, co worker, brother, uncle, and just a fun-loving person that everyone would be blessed to have in their lives. He will be forever loved and dearly missed by the people he touched and the kindness and generosity he always showed to others.
In addition to his children, he is survived by his former wife, Laura Lowe of Franklin, MA, his 3 brothers Edward Lowe and his wife Anne Marie, St. Albans, VT, Gary Lowe and his wife Betsy, Chestnut Hill, MA and John Lowe, Dorchester, MA. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members and his forever friends he met along the way during his younger years growing up on Cape Cod as well as his adventurous college years and later in his professional work life. A Memorial Service/Celebration of Life will be announced in early Spring, 2021.
In lieu of flowers, his children are accepting donations in their father’s memory to erect a memorial bench in his name on one of his most favorite Cape Cod beaches yet to be finalized. Donations can be addressed directly to Bryan Lowe, Memo: Lowe Memorial Bench, 241 Webster St, Apt 2, East Boston, MA 02128.Venmo @ BryanLowe, Memo: Lowe Memorial Bench.
