Obituary for Rita McCann
Franklin - Rita (Desrosiers) McCann of Franklin, formerly of Millis, passed away on June 6, 2022 at the age of 95.
Rita was born on May 26, 1927 in Fall River to Telesphore and Ana (LeComte) Desrosiers. Rita was a graduate of the St. Ann’s School of Nursing and had a lengthy career at Brigham and Women's Hospital (formerly Peter Bent Brigham Hospital), as well as the Leonard Morse Hospital.
Rita later met and married her husband Roger, and together they raised 4 daughters. Rita was an active parishioner at the St Thomas Church in Millis and was a volunteer with the Red Cross as the liaison between the Red Cross and MEMA. Rita loved books, the beach, and traveling.
Rita is survived by her children: Kathy Dion of Sandwich, Liz Gallagher and her husband Rick of Framingham, and Emily Franklin and her husband James of South Carolina. She is also survived by her favorite people, her grandchildren: Ashley and Brennan Gallagher, and Katherine and Joseph Franklin. She also leaves behind her great grandsons, Vincent and Conall.
Rita was predeceased by her husband Roger J. McCann and her youngest daughter, Stefanie McCann.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation hours at the Robert Mitchell Funeral Home, 90 Curve St. in Millis, on Friday July 8 from 5 to 7 PM. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday July 9 at 11 AM at the Saint Thomas Church, 82 Exchange St in Millis. Burial will follow at the Prospect Hill Cemetery in Millis.
