Roger A. Silva, 87 of Medfield died May 8th in Boston at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He leaves his wife of 62 years Maryann, of Medfield, his 2 sons Matthew, of Weymouth, and Mark of Medfield, 1 “Adopted daughter” Nancy (Gilman) Grassi of Tewksbury, 4 grandchildren Anna and Margaret both of Weymouth, Timothy and Kitara “Bella” both of Waterville Me, and 1 great granddaughter Scarlett also of Waterville, Me., along with several nieces, nephews, god children, cousins, extended family, and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Benjamin F and Marguerite (Tacelli) Silva, brother Donald S. Silva, sister Joan (Silva) Kenney, and brother David A. Silva Sr.

Roger grew up in Winthrop where he made several lifelong friends, played on the high school football team, and graduated in 1954. He developed a love of music early in life, and that love led to him working for and managing multiple record and music stores for a multi state franchise during the 1960’s. Finally culminating in owning his own record and music stores in the 1970’s and early 80’s called The Music Factory. During the 1980’s he decided to make a courageous change in life and went to work as Sales Representative for a local Volkswagen Dealer. He spent the next 20 years showing people why he loved VWs so much. Whether he was going to Bruins, Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots games or watching them at home on TV he was always loudly cheering for them. He was in his element when he was manning the grill at the many barbecues and pool parties Roger and Maryann hosted for family and friends. One of his happy places was Walt Disney World on family vacations. His granddaughters noticed his resemblance to the Disney Characters Tigger and Goofy. He was an outgoing person who loved his family dearly and cherished all the friendships he made throughout his life.
