Obituary for Ronald B Trenouth
Ronald B. Trenouth, Sr., 84, formerly of Millis and East Falmouth, MA, died on Friday, December 31, 2022. He was the loving husband of the late Mary (Maranjian) Trenouth and beloved partner of Lois Durning.
Born in Boston on Friday, May 13, 1938, Ron was the son of the late William and Angelina (DeLellis) Trenouth of Franklin. He lived most of his life in Millis, enjoying retirement in East Falmouth and Fort Pierce, Florida.
Ron worked for many years at Pondville Hospital in the cancer research area as a lab assistant, before leaving and working full-time in the hardware department at the Sears in Natick. Using what he learned from his father and from building his own home in Millis, Ron loved helping others solve their DIY home improvement challenges. After retiring from Sears, he joined his wife Mary with her real estate agency, Belknap Real Estate in Medfield.
Ron enjoyed working on home improvement projects. Whether it was his investment properties in Wrentham or Martha's Vineyard, or his beloved house on Farm Street in Millis, affectionately known by passers-by as the “Butterfly House”, he took great pride in the work he did and loved talking shop with others who shared the same passion.
He loved seeing his sons perform on stage in their various theatrical and musical performances and traveled throughout New England and New York to see them do what they loved.
As “Grampy” and “Uncle Ronnie”, he embraced and epitomized the role of storyteller, teacher and mischief-maker (especially mischief maker).
Ron was extremely close with his siblings and in-laws and was happiest spending time with any and all of them and their respective spouses and children, especially at the annual Trenouth Christmas party, graduations, weddings, and other family get-togethers.
Ron is survived by his sons Ron, Jr. and his wife, Diane (DiCroce); Stephen and his wife Rebecca (Hess); and granddaughters, Grace, Paige and Kate; as well as his long time partner, Lois Durning and her family: Steven and his wife Vandra; James; Lori (Brighton); Scott and Wayne; and many, much-loved, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Roberts-Mitchell-Caruso funeral home in Millis, MA, on Friday, January 13, 2023, from 10AM – 11:30AM, with a graveside visit at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Millis, MA to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in Ron's name to the Walpole Council on Aging, 60 South Street, Walpole, MA 02081. Please make checks payable to the Town of Walpole mailed, “In Memory of Ron Trenouth”, in the memo line.
