Obituary for Ronald B Spearing

Passed away quietly at the Mary Ann Morse Nursing Facility in Natick MA on February 17, 2020. He was 89 years old.
Born in Jamaica Plain in 1930 and raised in Malden where he completed high school and then went on to earn two degrees from Northeastern University; 1 in engineering and the other in Business Administration.
After that, he distinguished himself with service to his country in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955, spending a year in Korea as a Radioman.
After marrying his sweetheart Patricia “Pat” (Peabody), they moved to Millis, MA where they enjoyed a beautiful marriage, while still caring for Ron’s parents who remained in Malden. Ron worked for many years in Instrumentation Research and Development for Polaroid, Sylvania, and Raytheon.
He was a thoughtful and caring guy who was low key and had a dry sense of humor, and who enjoyed being out and about town and became an active member of the Church of Christ in Millis in 1996. Ron sang in in the church choir and became a member of the church, men’s club and served on various committees.
Ron loved the simple things in life such as grocery shopping at Market Basket, maintaining his yard and puttering in the garage. And he loved spending time with his family; kids, grand-kids, and the newest edition his great grandson Austin.
He loved Jazz music and playing the piano; Errol Garner’s “Concert by the Sea”, and Billy Joel were some of his favorites. Back in 2002 he even played some Billy Joel on the grand piano during a church concert.
Ron was the beloved husband of Patricia (Peabody) Spearing and the son of the late Harold and Lenora (Miles) Spearing; both originally from Nova Scotia. Ron was the devoted father of Doug M. Spearing, and step-father of Michael D. Byers and Matthew A. Byers and his wife Claire. He was also the proud grandfather of Alicia A. Seabury and her husband Eric, and Stephen Z., Jamie P., Olivia J., Sommer A., and India P. Byers, and doting great grandfather of Austin B. Seabury.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Ron’s life will be held at the Church of Christ, 142 Exchange St. Millis, MA 02054 on Saturday, Mat 16, 2020, at 11:00 o’clock AM.
The family would greatly appreciate memorial contributions in Ron’s name to the “Millis Senior Center,” 900 Main St. Millis MA 02054 or the “Church of Christ, Congregational” 142 Exchange St. Millis MA 02054.
