Obituary for Theodore "Ted" Bouchard

Theodore M. Bouchard, 33, of Boston, died suddenly on April 30. A 2007 graduate of Medfield High School, Ted earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance and Liberal Studies from Bentley University in 2011 and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame in 2018. He spent his career, which included more than five years at Boston Children’s Hospital, in healthcare finance.

Like his late father Robert, Ted was an avid sports fan. Ted was a talented athlete and played hockey and golf throughout his childhood and into his young adult years. Bob coached several youth hockey teams on which Ted played, and they cherished the time they spent together on the ice. A skilled, fierce competitor, Ted was elected captain of the Medfield High School hockey team and went on to play in the junior levels. After several injuries and surgeries, Ted could no longer play hockey, but remained passionate about the sport and enjoyed attending games with family and friends.

Ted valued service and community and volunteered with several organizations throughout high school. Notre Dame’s espousal of these values led him to pursue his MBA there, and he loved the Fighting Irish and football Saturdays in South Bend. Ted felt grateful for the opportunities he had in life and for his parents for instilling in him the importance of family and community. He chose a career in healthcare finance because he wanted to use his education to support organizations he felt were doing good in the world.

Ted will be remembered by his family for his loyalty, kindness, intelligence, and wit. He was protective of anyone who was blessed enough to be part of his life, especially his sisters and parents. Whether it was through his gentle smile, strong hug, helping hands, or a well-timed quip, Ted knew how to lift the spirits of those around him and never expected anything in return.

Ted is survived by his adoring mother Maryann of Medfield, MA; beloved sisters Alessandra of Somerville, MA, and Madeline of Wellesley, MA; grandmother Lois Salenius; and many cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family is comforted in the faith that Ted has been welcomed into everlasting life by his father Robert, grandmother Madeleine, grandfathers Charlie and John, and others who have gone before him.

A funeral Mass will be held Friday, May 5 at 11:30 at the Parish of St. Edward at 133 Spring St., Medfield, followed by burial at Vine Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ted’s memory may be made to the Boston Health Care for the Homeless program: https://www.bhchp.org/donate/.
