Obituary for Wilbert Richard Lannon

COTUIT: Wilbert Richard Lannon, age 102, of Cotuit, a longtime resident of Medfield, died Thursday, Dec 10, 2020, at The Royal of Cotuit Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mashpee.

Born in Roslindale on May 25, 1918, he was the son of the late Percy and Fern (Getchell) Lannon. Primarily educated in Roslindale, he was a 1936 graduate of English High School in Jamaica Plain. Wilbert served with the Army Air Corps during World War II and married Mary C. Nissen in 1944.

The Lannons resided in Roslindale and Dedham prior to settling in Medfield in 1964. Wilbert was employed for thirty-five years as an insurance underwriter with Monarch Life Insurance. During retirement he delivered The Bulletin and MetroWest newspaper in Medfield for more than ten years. He then performed office duties at J.G. MacQuarrie Insurance Agency in Roslindale from 1999 until 2010.

Predeceased by his wife Mary in 1999 and daughter Ferne in 1988, he is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth D. “Libby” Lannon of Cotuit.

Visiting hours will be at the Roberts Mitchell Caruso Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, on Wednesday from 10-12, Burial with full military honors to follow at Vine Lake Cemetery.

Wilbert was so well cared for at the nursing home where the staff enjoyed his company and twinkling eyes.
