Obituary

Barbara Jean Stevenson (Kerry) of Port Angeles, Washington died peacefully on Sunday, April 25, 2021.
Barbara was born in Fresno, California in 1931. She lived there until the age of nine when her family
moved to Washington State.
Barbara attended Clover Park high school in Washington and at the young age of 19 met her true love
and soon to be husband a hockey player from Canada named Douglas Stevenson. Barbara and Douglas
married in 1950 for 25 years until Douglas’ unexpected passing in 1975.
Barbara was well accomplished and after Douglas’s passing went back to school at night to acquire her
Associates, Bachelor and Graduate degrees while working full time and raising young children. She was
also involved in the League of woman voters, town government and volunteered at church, food banks
and many other charitable organizations.
Barbara was an avid reader, gardener, quilter, student. Barbara overcame a fear of flying and traveled
extensively for work and pleasure traveling all over the country and around the world.
Over her 90 years Barbara had many friends thru church, town politics, quilting, work, and charitable actives.
Barbara was most proud of her children. Judith (Stevenson) Hoy and her husband Donald from Port
Angeles, Washington. Jeanene (Stevenson) Vounatsos and her husband Michael from Norfolk,
Massachusetts and John D. Stevenson and his wife Christine from Massachusetts. She was predeceased
by her son James S. Stevenson in 1978.
Barbara was the proud Grandma to Christian, James and his wife Sarah, Nickolas and Emma and she was
called Grandma Great by Madison, Hannah and Henry.
Barbara was the sister of the late William Kerry and the Auntie of Jennifer, Michael, and Matthew.
Also, would like to acknowledge family friend John Ricks for his care and attention that he always gave to Barbara.
In lieu of flowers please feel free to donate to a charity of your choice in Barbara’s name. A private ceremony will be held with family at a later date.
