My Garden Buddy

I first met Lisa in person after talking with her much in garden chat on aol. She was so very encouraging as I tried to plan my gardens at my new bed and breakfast. After we met in person, we two packed up our walker/rollators and went out to play in REAL life…offline, that is. We often took off on spontaneous day road trips and meandered the back roads of Maine in search of gardens or wildflowers that we could enjoy……our “old lady adventures,” we called them. The adventure usually included lunch, whether we packed it ourselves for a picnic, or stopped in one of the many “Mom and Pop” restaurants of small towns we explored in Maine. We shared a love of our adopted state and the joy of exploration of its many beauties. We created some dollhouse things together, planted and Weeded in our gardens. Lisa visited me at the Bed and breakfast often, and we talked about flowers, art…..oh, so many things. She was an interested and interesting soul. We talked and laughed as we prepared foods for the catered events. There was always laughter in the kitchen when she popped in. She made it a sunny place. She didn’t share her illness with many and quietly faced her situation so she wouldn’t “worry” others. It was so like her to be thoughtful of others. I am grateful for the blessing of her friendship. I will so miss her, our Pu Pu Platter! I’ll miss her humor, her kindness, her wonderful appreciation of beauty, and her quiet and gentle way. I hope that good memories will soften the pain of grief of her family and friends. Rest in peace, friend. Lorette
